Italy is the Country of Food, Love, Saints and...Wine!                                                         Wine was started to be produced in Italy many century before Christ  by the Greek and Etruscan. The Roman made the wine the “drink of the Gods” and actually they dedicated      a God to it: Baccus. Today Italy produce almost 1.5 Billion of gallons a year, ca one fifth of the World production.

The quality and prestige of Italian Wines Italian is unbeatable: every years Super Tuscan, Barolo, Bruenllo di Montalcino and the superlative Sassicaia receive the most prestigious International awards.



Italian Wines are classified in four categories:

Vino da Tavola

The lowest classification of Italian Wine. The wine is made by Italian Grapes in Italy, nothing more.

Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT)

The wine is made in a particular Italian Region. Many Super Tuscan fall in this category because of the blend of the grapes (Cabernet Savignon & Sangiovese).


Denominazione d’Origine Controllata (DOC)

The wines are made in a particular area designated for DOC Wines and should be made by specifics grapes varieties.

Denominazione d’Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG)

The “cream” of DOC Wines in terms of more stringent regulations and quality standard.
